VOLUNTEERING
volunteering is one of the best creations of man kind. I mean what better way could you spend your spare time than volunteering and helping out the community? In my past I have done a pretty good amount of volunteering, at the humane society, horse stables and even at special events. One of my favorite volunteering was at Marcellas kitchen. It's where you go to a building that is nonprofit and help cook and feed the less fortunate people. Volunteering there has made me really excited for the summer because of all the places I have found to volunteer at.
Since I have been little I have always been motivated to help people. Most of the time I would just do simple things like help a elder carry their bags to their car or just keeping them company. I have even made some of my friends start to want to volunteer, last summer I got almost 8 people to come and help with the horse stables.
Now some people don't get the chance to go out and help others, but simple task can make a diffrence. You don't have to go out and go to an official place to volunteer you could just go to a neighbors yard and help clean up. If you do have the chance to go out and help the community go and bring a friend. If you want to volunteer, but don't know where to start here are some places for you to check out; marcellas kitchen, humane society/shelter, community service, elderly home, and even go and meet with important people and discuss about making changed to improve your town.

Oink Oink
Have you ever heard of a miniature pop-belly pig? If your wondering yes they are basically baby pigs but grown up. To be honest I believe all animals are sweet to some degree, but pigs are one of the sweetest they always are by you almost like a puppy dog. You can even trust them with letting them roam free without a cage(if you prefer).
Over all pigs are decently easy to take care of unless it's an inside pig then it's a whole new story. When having an inside pig you have to first have to potty train it and teach it how to you know, not mess things up. They don't need much but the basics. Food, Water, and their favorite MUD! Pigs loveeee mud, they could soak in it all day if they were allowed to. Some pigs even like to go swimming! I have had family members that own pigs(all different kind not just miniature) and they are so much fun to play with outside.
When feeding them its pretty simple, you can go to basically any tractor supplies, or local co ops should have a basic brand. It has all kinds of corn, carrots, and grains to fit pigs special dieting needs. Along with that you can also feed them scraps and things from left over dinner. A couple things I would prefer to not feed them is any kind of bones(for choking hazards) and fatty food.
So BATHS, yeah its a big problem with pigs. Only because of the fact that they lovee mud. They aren't complicated it just like a dog get what every soap you prefer to use, then you just soap them up and rinse tem off. Just make sure you don't over wash them because if you clean them to much you will dry there skin out. After all that you are basically the best pig owner. Just make sure you play and bond with your pig like its your own baby.

Mice ewwe
Yes I know a lot of people think mice are nasty and think they have all kinds of diseases, which is not true. I thought the same thing before I got them but they are actually one of the best pets I've had. They are very low maintenance and don't take a lot of time out of your day. Therefore if you go to school or have a job that takes up a lot of your time they won't intervene with your plans. Now I'll quite blabbing and get to the important part.😊
First of all mice are actually very good pets. Not just because of the fact they don't take a lot of time, but because they are very smart. When I say smart I mean they actually build a bond with you. If your were to go and buy one a pet store you will notice they are very antsy and hyper. After a while of have them you will notice and difference in their behavior. For example when you first get them it is very hard to handle them because they run away from you, but they start to grow on you after a while. When you go to pet them they won't run most of the time they will just let you pet them and then go on with there activity.
After hearing about all that let's talk about the hygiene of the mice and their cages. They do not require a lot of effort unlike other pets. Pet stores have even went as far as making trays for the bedding to shorten the cleaning time. It is just a little plastic tray that you fill with the bedding, and when it is dirty you remove it and dump out the dirty bedding. Then simply repeat the process. One of the hardest things that you have to do when cleaning is just the wheels and any other extension you may have. Now when you are cleaning those you need to make sure that the nastiness and poop is off of it. To do that I usually just use a big tub of hot, hot water to really kill germs, and let them soak in some dish soap. After about 20 or so minutes you need to take it out and drain the water, then rinse and let dry. Even though that is the hardest part it really doesn't require a lot of energy or time.
Now that we have talked about how to clean the cage and why you should even get one, lets talk about housing arrangements. Mice usually don't need anything other than food, water, and a wheel but if you want to go all out there is plenty of things for you to purchase. Such as extensions to the cage, that can have a little tower and some come with an extra wheel. Now for my mice I just have a basic cage with a little tower and just one wheel. Mostly because it is easier and less time consuming when your cleaning.
Mice are very sweet and aren't very hyper but they can get a little rowdy when it comes to having a roommate. Typically mice do not have roommates expecially of the same sex because most get very territorial and eventually start to fight. Now I have to two males, which you usually do because pets mart doesn't sell females, but they were fine when they were little. Recently since they are starting to mature they have started to try to take over the cage and fight. I am currently purchasing a new cage for one to live in for their safety. Therefore if you are wanting two make sure you are prepared to buy an extra cage for when they start to fight. So now that you have heard all the information you should need to take care of a pet mouse I would highly suggest your getting one if you are getting your first pet.
